The SWTOR Trooper really has no precedence in any other Star Wars game and as such it is really up in the air just what sorts of abilities this class will have. In this SWTOR Trooper guide, you will get a class preview and overview of what you can expect from this class.
The first thing you should understand about the SWTOR Trooper is that it is a Republic class. Now, this isn’t the same Republic as the old Star Wars movies, as the Republic is nearly at the peak of its glory at this point, which occurs 3000-3500 years before the events that take place in the movies. Because of this, the Trooper is actually a real class with a lot of great technology rather than some scrap class which has to get by on leftover old abilities and creative attacks.
Now that we have that out of the way, there are a lot of different things you can do with the SWTOR Trooper. The first thing of course s the fact that the SWTOR Trooper can specialize into the Vanguard or the Commando. Each of these classes is very different.
First off, the Vanguard is a bit unusual because it can be either a melee dps class (you would think the Trooper would be only a ranged class) as well as a tank. This depends on where you spend your talent points, and you can really spend them in either talent tree and fill either of these roles should that be your desire.
Furthermore, Commandos have two opposite roles: either a Ranged DPS class or a healing class. The Commando can focus in on its mammoth assault cannon, which lets it deal a lot of ranged damage, almost like a casting class. On the other hand, it can also be a Combat Medic, which is a healing class of all things.
As a result, if you have a mind to play the Trooper in SWTOR, according to this guide you now know this class can literally play every role in the game. This makes it a good class to play if you have no idea what you want to do, as you can always change your spec in order to figure out what it is that you want.
